(seriously, I did about five takes, that's what an absurd perfectionist I am, and I couldn't even pick one after deleting two of them right off the bat).

This is a bit quick and dirty and almost completely improvised with no plan, but I'm just trying to see where this goes. I didn't bother using a tripod, hence it being just a little bit blurry. The "II" card is essentially a finished piece (though I might experiment with textures) but the "I" may end up being added onto (I want to do some stuff with viscera and gore, like this fell out of something going through death-throes).
I'd been playing some Castlevania games and watching a few videos on some obscure ones (namely hacks for the original NES). In that game, when you defeat a boss, this red orb drops down and you have to touch it to end the level. Of course, when talking about Castlevania, one inevitably tends to also talk about Metroid. When I was a kid, I used to draw the monsters in Metroid II (especially the metroids themselves). I don't draw enough organic things.
