Description

More of trying to see how many projects I can tackle at once in a day.
Admittedly, I don't like using my smaller watercolor book if I can avoid it. Even with scaling the image down, there's still a lot of roughness as a result of simply using a smaller canvas. What I've been doing lately is just using it for "elements" that get composited into the larger illustration, the red egg being the best example. It also just makes me want to try making one of these entirely digitally, with vectors in Inkscape. I'd get much cleaner lines and wouldn't have to worry about inking in the black spaces, which often still requires me to use the posterize effect or ramp up the contrast. Initially, this was going to be a single, giant slab still stuck in the ground, basically like ROKK but with a wall of text. I was going to only ink in the othermost edge, leaving the fill-in up to a paintbucket tool or something like that. In the end, I thought this would be more dynamic and ominous. It almost makes a decent companion piece to Rosso D'Uovo

Not sure if I'll leave it at this for the day or keep adding. November of 2009 was supposedly my most productive month (9% and 27 individual pieces), though most of those are just rough pages from my sketchbooks and not my more "presentable" stuff. In any case, I don't think I'll top that, not this November anyway, but that was never the goal or anything I want to make a tradition.
